The recently completed Away trip to Portland was just about as great as a trip can get.  We had four fun filled, satisfying and good foods eating in Portland before moving up the mountain to Welches, Oregon for the Leisure Hour Tournament.  The ladies and gentlemen from the Pacific Northwest were gracious and accommodating hosts.  The fish fry on Friday night was not to be missed (fresh fish caught by the members).  And the putting contest on Saturday was something to behold.  Doubt if Tiger could have putted any better than those guys.

 

Aundria Rogers who made her first Away trip with the club certainly seemed to enjoy herself and came away as a winner at her first sanctioned tournament.  Those making the trip were Leslie Banks; Katie Catron; Rodney Gants; Larry Holden; Aundria Rogers; Bobbie Smith; Leona Woods; Rose Mary Spriggs and Marguerite Waddy.

 

Our “Away” trip for 2011 will be to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from April 24 to May 1.  We need a $100 deposit from everyone interested in participating because to hold the rooms and tee times we must send a deposit by October 1, 2010.  3 bedroom villas are reserved.  You should arrange for your housemates now to put a hold on your villa.  If you need help in finding a housemate, please let me know and I’ll try to match you up.  My initial reservation is for 28 people.  If you plan to use your time-share and just need golf reservations, please let me know.  We have a hold on tee times for 6 days.  See the flyer for more information.

 

In view of all the rulings we’ve seen on the golf channel and in the tournaments, we will have a Rules Clinic at the next meeting.

            The wardrobe committee and I have been working on finding new shirts and a warm-up suit.  I’m sure you will love them as much as we do, so please bring your checkbook to the meeting to place your order.  We will also have samples of the shirt fabric and styles.
